What To Bring to an Amusement Park

A trip to your local amusement park with your family or friends is always an unforgettable experience. Whether it’s been a plan in the making for weeks or you’ve decided to make a spontaneous day of fun, having all your essentials in one bag can ensure you and your group feel comfortable throughout the day.
Before heading out, check your bag and ensure you’ve completed our amusement park packing list!
Things To Bring to an Amusement Park
If you’re unsure what to bring to an amusement park, here are some useful items to bring along. Remember: it’s better to be over-prepared than underprepared!
Bag
This might seem obvious to bring to the amusement park, but be smart about the type of bag you get, as you’ll be hauling it around all day. A medium-sized sling bag may be enough to carry all your essentials.
Bringing a bag that’s too big or too small can make it difficult to enjoy the day. If you plan on playing games with prizes or buying souvenirs, make sure your bag has enough room, or you could have to carry your items throughout your day.
Cash
Some amusement parks and vendors may accept cards or e-wallets, but some amusement parks operate on a cash-only basis. Avoid having to scout the area for an operating ATM and ensure you have enough cash for yourself or your group before you arrive at the park grounds.
Extra Set of Clothes
It might be a bulky addition to your bag, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. A water ride might be refreshing on a hot summer day, but dealing with wet clothes for the rest of the day might not be the most comfortable. There’s also the risk of sweating profusely on a hot day.
First-Aid Kit
This could be a small pouch with band-aids, pain relievers, disinfectants, and medicines for your chronic issues. If you have babies or children, ensure you have their medication in case they feel unwell.
Hair Tools and Hair Ties
Your outfit might look better with your hair done a certain way. However, if you plan on getting on the thrilling rides or dealing with hot and humid weather, your perfect hair day won’t stay so perfect for long. It could look messy, so having a comb or brush and a few emergency hair ties in your bag could help you get it in check and prevent it from affecting the rest of your day.
Hand Sanitizers
Outdoor events mean few areas with running water and soap. Before and after eating or after getting off a ride, having a bottle of hand sanitizer can minimize the risk of contracting or spreading germs.
Hat and Sunglasses
Aside from your sunscreen, it doesn’t hurt to bring additional sun protection for the rest of your body. A cap can be enough to protect your hair, eyes, and skin from the sun’s harmful rays. Sunglasses can also make it easier to see your surroundings without the discomfort of the sun’s glare.
Phone Charger and Power Bank
Before leaving your home, ensure your phone is fully charged – you won’t want to have a low battery while recording pictures and videos throughout the day. Some amusement parks provide complimentary or paid charging stations. If you aren’t sure or don’t want to pay the rental fees, your best bet is to bring a power bank.
Sealable and Regular Plastic Bags
A sealable plastic bag can help you manage your belongings, especially if you don’t want to spend extra on locker rentals. If you’re riding a water ride, place your phone, wallet, money, and other valuables in your sealable bag.
Regular plastic bags, on the other hand, can be useful when you least expect them. Reserve these for your soiled clothes, if you get sick, or if you need an extra bag to hold your amusement park merchandise and prizes from the amusement park’s games.
Sunscreen
Unless you’re going to an indoor amusement park, applying sunscreen as needed can prevent those nasty sunburns you could get from prolonged sun exposure, especially during a hot day.
Ideally, you should apply a layer of sunscreen before leaving your home since it can take half an hour for your skin to absorb it. It’s recommended you apply every two hours, as factors like sweat can make your sunscreen wear off.
